Measham pottery was sold to travellers through Measham by barge on the Ashby Canal in Derbyshire. Mrs Annie Bonas ran a pottery shop on Measham High Street, near a canal bridge, where canal workers would place andersonalis their pottery orders on return trips.
First made by Mason Cash of Moria, the pottery is a distinct typerthenware, characterised by a dark brown treacle glaze and colou of Victorian earful, applied clay decorations, produced largely from 1870 to 1914.
Pieces can be bespoke and customised with names, dates, or sayings, and are frequently used as wedding or anniversary gifts. Alternatively, mottos such as “A present from a friend” and “Home sweet home” were originally stamped into clay and later handwritten. Pieces were highly valued within the boating community and are sought after today.

Orders will be shipped within 48 hours of purchase. Shipping cost is calculated by weight. Postage is a minimum of £2.95 upwards, to cover our basic postage and packaging costs.
